due to this lack of knowledge there can be no certainly that God exists
1762 Rousseau publics Discourse on the Origins of the Inequality of Mankind, which proposes that government and religion
were social contracts. If the bargain was not kept on both sides then it was ethical to break it.
Canadian TimeLine
1534 Cartier's voyage to New France
1542-1542- The Catier- Roberval expedition fails, the fist settlement in Canada is abandoned due to lack of men and supplies.
1576- The English attempt, as Cartier did earlier, to find the North West passage.
1605- Port Royal is founded as a trading post.
1608-Quebec is founded by Champlain as a trading post
1610- The New France colony founded. The Recollect Mission Begins. The English found a colony is Conception bay
1615-The first catholic missionaries reach the Huron
1627- The Company of 100 is founded to help develop Canada.
1629-1632- The English occupy Quebec. The Mission of New France is given to the Jesuit Order
1634- The Jesuits reopen the Huron Mission
1639- Sainte Marie is constructed as a permanent mission headquarters among the Huron. The Ursaline sisters arrive
1642- The Jesuits found Ville Marie as a permanent settlement for Christianized Indians
1649- The fall of Huronian. The Remaining Hurons must seek shelter from the Jesuits ad the French.
1653- The French replace the Huron as negotiators and idle men of the fur trade
1663- France is made a Royal colony under Louis XIV
1665- French reinforcements arrive to fight the Iroquois nations
1667- Peace is struck between the French and Iroquois
1687- Resumption of conflict
1689-1697- War between France and England
1702-1713- war resumes
1711- English attempt to capture Quebec fails

1760- British conquer New France
